I tried to feed the kids sushi tonight. Tried being the key word, there... They each ate a decent amount of the two pieces of California roll that I gave them, and they both finished up the 1/4 c.-ish of miso soup that I gave them, which is good, I guess. But there was a lot of anger coming out (and some food almost coming back up)! I forgot (as I always do, it seems) to ask for soy paper instead of seaweed, so they were not thrilled with the "packaging" of their sushi rolls. Also, they didn't really appreciate the soy sauce or the fact that there were multiple little pieces that should have been bitten into all at once. Right - not so much.
They did enjoy the chopsticks, though! Especially the little guides that came with them to help them use the chopsticks; those were a definite hit :) The funny thing about all of this, though, is that they still don't know that they ate sushi. Every time I've brought up sushi in the past, they've been completely against it. So tonight, I just told them that we were going to get a California roll and a TNT roll. I didn't mention that those two things were categorized as "sushi"... and they did eat ok... so that means I get a point in there somewhere, too, right?!
Final Score: Bubblets: 1, Mommy: 1, Sushi: 0, Good Night's Sleep: ? <-- hopefully there's three points there!
Thanks for reading :)
