Sleep Deprivation

Why is it that I never sit down to write until after 10 o'clock at night? Maybe it's the kids, the laundry, the fact that my scrapbooking closet is an absolute disaster right now, and I think that writing a little post will take an infinitely smaller amount of time than actually cleaning it. I'm not sure, but that's what it seems like.

As for the kids, they were dolls on Mother's Day. They paraded into the living room with flowers and chocolates, and told me (and everyone else they encountered) "Happy Mother's Day!" I had a great time just hanging out with my family, not folding laundry, not reading, not doing much of anything. It was pretty amazing.

Then, before I knew it, I was turning the key in the Camry and making the 2 1/2 hour trek back to Lansing. Not only was I stir crazy, but the kids had cabin fever (or was it Camry fever?) as well. Little did I know that I was in for probably one of the worst drives back home in memorable history! After two pull-offs, one grande iced coffee with milk, and zero spankings (albeit, a fair amount of unhappy mommy and unhappy babies), we were home {insert sigh of relief here}.

Life continues to resume as normal, although on a slightly warped schedule. We'll just pretend I'm "preparing" for the three-hour time difference between here and warmer, drier, sandier weather. Yes, vacation - Phoenix, Arizona. There are all sorts of wonderful activities planned, and I'm extremely excited to take a break from this never-ending case of the Mondays I've been having lately; however, I have a strange feeling that I won't really be catching up on any sleep... funny how that works - needing some time off to relax and then feeling the need to fill your time off with non-stop entertainment so that you "get the most out of it."

Thus ensues the cycle of sleep deprivation.
